Problematic students

I know there isn't a shortage of challenging students in any given class. It can range from being disruptive in class to being a complainer regarding the grades they received for every test.I usually address these issues in the end to avoid taking much needed time away from the class.

A challenging student may pose different types of challenges to the instructor. If the student is disruptive, I would arrange for a meeting outside the class with the student.

One very important aspect is the authority on the subject by the instructor. The instructor has to be very thoroughly prepared for the material and the presentation of the material must be very structured and organized.
If the student is asking too many questions, make sure that they are related to the topic. If all the questions are related to the topic, divert those questions to other students who are quiet.Politely tell the student you would like other students to ask the questions as well.

One day a week, usually towards the end of the week, I go over student's grades and assignments for the week; when I notice that a student has not turned in required assignments during the week, or that the student is missing assignment from the previous week, I have them meet me after school; failure to meet with me after school, will result in the failing of the class assignment; I will give the student ample amount of time to complete the assignment, but the student has to acknowledge he or she is required to complete the assignment and by the given date.
