Exclusively Male?
Under the section "Strategies" this topic states that the angry student will be almost exclusively male, I found this to be the exact opposite. Maybe this is because I come off as intimidating to male students, maybe this is the nature of my industry and those types of people it attracts but, my position is one that deals with problem students that get out of their instructors control I can say definitively that 95%+ of what I consider angry students are female.
"(the pronoun "him" is being used here because hostile and angry students will almost exclusively be male)."
I have experienced both male and female "angry" students. In my experience it is the females that are harder to deal with because when confronted they tend to get more emotional. As far as the male students, once the concern has been heard, they tend to calm down and get back to work.
Interesting. Perhaps because of being in a male dominated industry, things are different for culinary arts. In my years of experience, there have been plenty of times I was the only female working in a kitchen. The expectation is that the female will become the shrinking violet in the corner, so females need to be a little more forceful to stand her ground. I see this in the classroom as well. The women who are out working in the industry already are much more outspoken, although I wouldn't call it angry. Those females that have no industry experience yet are much more demure.
Hi Rachel,
Out of my 20 years of teaching, I recall talking to an angry male one time. My conversations are with female students often.

As a career college instructor, when encountering angry students, they have always been female for me.
I agree with you! As an instructor I have found that females cheat more. Males also cheat but I have found that males will deny what they have done whereas females, when confronted, will state that they have cheated and will also discuss with you the reason for cheating.
