Angry Student

I like the way this module discuss, Listen& get it written

Hi Andrea,
Angry students can certainly be a handful. Let them speak fully before you say anything. Listening is key and is very calming to an angry students.
Patricia

I found this module very helpful.I had to deal with the situation many times before, and I feel that taking this course will help me handle my students better.

Hi Dustin,
After you have listened, give them the speil about being responsible for their own actions and point out that they are at fault.
Patricia

I have done this with students as well and it does help to fortify their trust i you as an instructor. However, where do we draw the line between just listening, and getting the students to own up to the fact that they are adults and at some point take responsibility for their actions?

I do agree with listening to the student, but would like to hear how you would handle a possible bi-polar student.

Hi Rebecca,
Listening is key! It seems so magical with angry students. They need to vent to someone that will not interrupt them.
Patricia

I agree with this module. An angry student just wants you to listen to them. I had an angry student in my class and I decided to ask her what was wrong. She proceded to tell me all of the things that was going on in her life. She had problem outside of school and all she wanted was to talk to someone about her problems. All I did was listen to her and the next day she was happier in class.
