cheating

I have seen students cheat with their cell phones by taking a picture of study guides. I encourge no cell phones on desks.

I have had students tear up a piece of paper that had answers for a test on their but left the paper by their water bottle. They would pick up a piece of paper at a time and pretend that it was garbaage. Another studet took the label off of a water bottle and wrote test answers on the back of the label and glued the label backon the bottle. Instant answers! another student recently came in to class and took a test. She was sitting at the table behind the table I was working at. She was not passing the class at this time, so I was surprised that she was answering so quickly. She had herr= leg up and resting on the other one. She had taken tape and written the answers on the tape. She was failing, but she finished this test in 2-3 minutes. I gave her the chance to take it again in front of me. If she passed it she could have the test with the highest grade counted. She was having trouble and asked if she could be honest. She admitted she cheated. She was given the ooportunity to take a 0 or see the dean. She chose the ). She has not cheated since

Yes, we do alot of math in my class so I do not allow students to use cell phones during exams. In my past class a few students were texting the answers to the exam to each other.
