Silent student
if student is shy, try to making a smaller group in order that the student feel confidence and being involve in class..
I do agree, however, some quiet students do do better on their own. It may be just because they can focus better by themselves.
Hi Trina,
When you help the shy student to see that they have value, they will sometimes come out of their shell. There are some super shy students. We just have to pull their potential out of them.

Actually I am doing the same with my students, that is a good way to make them have confidence. I remember one of my student that I thought, she might not going to make it to go out there but with envolving her with demo's and ask her to help another person who need help I brought her back to be confident and not to be shy.
I do demos in my class from time to time and include the quiet or shy students in those demos. it seems to bring them out of their shell and boosts self confidence. I of course ask them one on one if they would be willing to help.
I agree - it's important to get all students involved and if they are shy, this is a less stressful way for them to share ideas.
