Managing cheating students
I have found that walking around the classroom during test, quizzes,a and lectures will prevent some of the wondering eyes. I have also found that when placing students in groups you can automatically tell which students are weak and strong in the subject matter, which helps in the event you have to assign seats during test and exams.
I think all the exams should be computerized. This will reduce the number of cheats. However students cheat only if they did not learn.
Watching them next to each other helps, but timing the rate of answers completed is also another way. If a student is doing the questions at the same rate or slower than the instructor, they are probably doing their own work. But if they are Speedy Gonzalez and just going to town on answering them at the same rate as each other or putting answers down from a source, then you can see that and get them.
If there's room in the class, you can have the students sit every other desk, so as to discourgage those wandering eyes.
Having assign seat does help wit those who can't help themselves.
