I think the best way to approach an angry student is to let them know that you are going to listen and you are there to help clear the problem up. Not show them that you are right and they are wrong. If a student is angry with you and calling you out on things I think it is important to take it with a grain of salt and not get upset at the criticism you're receiving.

I like to use a little humor also but I like to get down to the root of the problem, I want to know why this student is angry and most of the time just letting them know your there to help is key.
