Quiet students

Group discussions are not always conducive.

I have done that in our classes and most of the time it works ,but there are some instances that you will have to get more involved

This is a great suggestion. The pairs could then be used to form larger groups as the silent students comfort level increases.

Quiet students seem to respond well to a Think-Pair-Share type activity. If they have a moment to right down their own thoughts first, pair up then with a neighbor to discuss one another's thoughts, and then the pair has a chance to report either their own or their neighbor's thoughts ... or a bit about the discussion the pair had on the topic. The Quiet Student is successful due to the prep and practice time taken before speaking to the class.
