Instructor mistakes
WE ARE HUMAN we all make mistakes Own up to a mistake the students then they KNOW we're human
Hi Michael,
You're right. Even as educators, we are very far from being perfect. Whenever we as educators make mistakes, take responsibility and move forward. It is human to make mistakes.
Patricia
We expect that students are going to make mistakes, we need to let them know that it's OK and as long as they own up to them, everything will be ok. A good way to reinforce that, is to own up to any mistakes that you make. This shows the students that this is the best way to handle mistakes, and makes you more approachable at the same time. Definately helps build rapport.
Hi Leonardo,
As long as you learn from your mistakes you are fine. We are human, we will make mistakes.
Patricia
I'm sure I make at least one mistake with every new class I have. More importantly, I make adjustments not to make the same mistakes again in future classes.
I take advantage of my mistakes by showing the students that we are human and how to correct the mistake if by chance they made the same one.
That is so true. We are all humans, we all make mistakes. We need to show students that when we do make mistakes we own up to them and learn from them, so they will learn to do the same when they go out into the work field!
Hi Troy and Patricia:
I could not agree more. I use humor to note that I have never made a mistake before...NOT. I may make a mistake again, and will own up to it.
John
Hi Shanna,
Sometimes a joke acts as a nice icebreaker. Students are amazed to see when we do make mistakes. In the students mind we are perfect, but we know better.
Patricia
So true we are only human. Maybe joke about the fact that instructors too can make a mistake.
Hi Troy,
Absolutely! Mistakes are inevitable, educators will make them too because WE ARE HUMAN!
