appearance

The way you carry youself is important,it shows confidence.

Hi Diana,
We stress to our students in uniform as well that they should look very crisp and professional. Appearance says a lot about who you are. As an educator, you are judged based on appearance.
Patricia

Iagree, lead by example. When you walk into that classroom you should not be worried about what does my hair look like, are my clothes fitting properly, are they wrinkle free? I try to explain to my students after the get their uniforms make sure that you dress for success. Your clothes and your appearance are a part of you daily. Now you have people looking up to you saying "wow doens't he/she look nice in their uniform!

Hi Marilyn,
Our students check us out from head to toe. Dress is one factor that our students evaluate. We shoud dress as instructor daily. Looking the part is an act of professionalism.
Patricia

There is no way u can set an example to students if your appearance is not good especially if there is a dress code. The instructor has to always set an example of what professional should look like

Hi Edward,
Absolutely! Lead by example!
Patricia

we have a uniform policy at our school and the first step in keeping students on the right path and looking professional is that we too look professional. How are we going to expect students to iron their uniforms if we dont set the example

Preparation for instruction begins at home. Showing your students that you care about your profession should begin with your appearance. Your students are watching you...

Hi Charleen,
To be regarded as a professional, excellent appearance is crucial.
Patricia

Hi
Appearance is very important.

Hi Doreen,
Nicely responded to! You are on point! Appearance says a lot about you either positively or negatively.
Patricia

The way you carry yourself sets an example to your students. it shows that you respect yourself and the profession that you are in. Your demeaner acts as a role model to other students and faculty. It shows that you take your role as educator seriously and that you care. If you carry yourself unprofessionally that is how your students will respond to you.
Regards,

Doreen Giglio

Whether conscious of it or not, we are professional role models for our students while instructing them. I sometimes use humor to point out mistakes I have made, such as "That is the first mistake I have EVER MADE...well, not quite". This builds rapport with my students and hopefully makes me more approachable.

Hi Evelyn,
Your demeanor does show cofidence or the lack there of.
