Reducing Instructor Anxiety

It is important to give instructors ample time to prepare for class. This helps to put the instructor at ease. Lesson plans and powerpoint should be available for subs.

This is so true! it can be frustrating when those hours are not accounted into pay checks or people's understanding of our profession. When discussing my "work schedule" with friedns and family members, sometimes I am frustrated as technically I only work X mount of hours but in actuality I work at least double that with all the grading, lesson planning and etc that I do. Most people understand this, and most colleges accoutn for prep time in pay, but this is not ALWAYS the case.

Hi Deborah,
The nature of the profession is that most of an instructor's preparation has to take place at home. An instructor's work day not end when school is dismissed. Many hours of work are done at home.
