Hi Mark,
I concur! Keep it to a minimum. Others will complain and not take you seriously if this type of behavior happens way too much.

Laughter is the best medicine (so they say)...humor definitely takes anxiety/fear of the unknown and puts it where it belongs....on the back burner!!
Hi Megan,
It is good for students to see that we make mistakes too; this puts them more at ease.

Hi Christina,
Meshing fun while learning is such a great practice. Whenever the lesson is fun, students become more engaged.

Hi Pamela,
I concur! There is a time and a place for everything.

I agree, but it must be done in moderation. too much of it will take from the learning experience, and also I think give the student the impression that they can do the same
"They" say that humor is the best medicine.....whoever "They" is!! Humor absolutely relieves anxiety, and we want those in our classes to feel that they are in their comfort zone....a great first step to learning!
I enjoy sharing stories with my students especially those that make them laugh and let them see another side of me that isn't all "business". On the flip side I have also learned that too much personal information and trying to be funny all of the time can be tiresome and irritating to some students. An occasional story with humour spreckled in a lecture now and again can be fun and refreshing.
I do too, it sometimes helps to put things in story form so that they can grasp the entire context of the lesson.
I find that humor is a great approach and ice breaker especially when starting a new class. Being a pastry instructor, if something I am demoing doesn't turn out or I screw up I use it as a means to connect with students as well.
Hi Allen,
Laughter is good for us too! It can really ease the tension across the board. People are just more open when laughter is involved.

I love this, it is a style I embrace in every class. It puts the students at ease and incresses learning.
