Common Instructor Mistakes
It is important to continually self-critique your interaction with students especially if you are a new teacher.
I believe that the more 'seasoned' of an instructor you are, the more important that critiquing can become. You don't want to get so comfortable that you are just going through the motions of the job. I always get feedback from my students, both on a daily and quarterly basis.
Hi Gina,
Yes it is! Even seasoned teachers need to critique themselves. We can always improve.

Yes, one needs to employ a checks and balances system to keep yourself on track. At times, if I find I have made an error I will act as though I did it on purpose to see if the students are paying attention enough to spot the error. I tell them that I was testing them. This seems to work and makes the students feel competent that they have spotted the error. Although I do not employ this technique all the time just in certain situations. After each class I will take a few moments to review the class in my head and make a mental note of what went well and make notes if there is something I feel I need to change.
