Teacher anxiety

The best advice for minimizing teacher anxiety is to be as prepared as possible. Having all your material ready and having practiced the lesson will help minimize the anxiety. Students sense fear and will take advantage whenever they can.

I've found that being a CJ instructor is in many ways similar to presenting one's case in court - speaking before an audience, being prepared, written material, a/v - all aspects are interchangeable between both professions. So I confess to having a slight advantage teaching something in which I've been immersed for 23 years.

Hi Frances,
You are right! Students can quickly tell when you are unprepared, and they will eat you alive once they determine that you are not ready. Preparation is key!

Hi Consuelo,
Preparation is key, and no one likes not being prepared. It gets to be too nerve racking when you walk into a classroom unprepared.

I have experienced this first hand and let me tell you it was very uncomfortable for me. Now I prepare myself at least a day ahead of time.
