Lead by example
In the classroom I maintain professionalism and hold students accountable to their professionalism abilities. I believe that leading by example is a strong visual of what is expected in the classroom.
Leading by example is the stand I take. Leading by example often with explanation and reason(for the students) is one of my standards for the classroom and laboratory.
Certainly. And not just in the classroom, but a role model for the real world as well.
A student is in many ways, an ambassador for the school and the profession.
That requires a paradigm shift. You may start nursing as a highway with only one two or three lanes. As you grow into your professional role, you become a highway with 6 or more lanes as your thoughts/beliefs/behaviors reflect who you are becoming.
Instructors can manifest a small amount of lanes, or many lanes.
I agree with leading by example. I believe that as an instructor if you set an example, students will follow. Show them respect, and they will do the same in return.
