It is important to keep students focussed and not hung up on something that has nothing to do with the subject matter.
As a new instructor I found myself using a minute or two when the students got off track to reevaluate in my mind how this happened and how to bring them back on topic. I used humor to do it. Is it ok, as a new instructor, to use this time of distraction to get myself together?
Hi Courtney,
That's right! We must keep our students on task. Students can go off in left field somewhere. As the manager of the room, sometimes we have to reel ours students back in to keep them on topic.
