Instructor rapport

I have found through my 32 years of instruction experience that you must establish boundaries for the students. You must set high standards in order to challenge the students but also be flexible in the grading requirements.

In a few of my classes, I have set the bar high with the work I expect from the college level student. Some students complain that the work is to much, but I do let them know, they are learning and not to ever give up. By the end of the term the students have completed the work and are happy with the grade and the work they proformed.

Hi Judd,
Set a bar that is attainable. The bar needs to be in reach for all students.

I would agree with setting a bar high but not to high. Some students will revert back in to their shell if they had been quiet and reserved to begin with.

Hi Terence,
Experience is certainly the best teacher! You really and truly get from students what you expect. I love how you set the bar high. Most students will rise to the challenge.
