school discipline

Everyone employed in the school has to be involved with school discipline from the director to security officers.

I teach full time at asn inner-city middle school and part time as an adjunct. At the middle school it is more evident that everyone needs to be on board wiht discipline. Too many students are "allowed" toi do what ever they want and they becopmke a cancer and infect the rest of the student body and it becomes almost impossible to teach.

Stephanie you are correct in your statement that discpline is a school wide issue. Dr. Jackson I too work at a school with security and honestly I wouldn't work anywhere that did not have security due to the recent events in the media. The only time I have had to address a discpline issue is when students are disrepectful to others as far as sharing their opinions and yes maturity level is the main factor.

Stephane, first let me say I am sorry you need security officers at your school. This is somewhat foreign to me as I have never worked in a school with security officers. Secondly and of most importance is that you are totally correct and discipline MUST be a focus of all stakeholders including parents if they are involved in paying for the education. Too often we associate college with being an adult and this simply is not always the case. Being an adult is more related to a state of mind versus a chronological age.
