This course described many soft skills needed to be successful in the workplace, and particularly for instructors. Highly effective instructors should possess a high EQ and IQ. Our students come to learn from our IQ, but we need to rely on our EQ to ensure they learn effectively.

Peter ,
Stay on the cutting edge. Your students will thank you for that.
Philip Campbell

One of the most important parts of an effective instructor is the ability to show passion for what you are doing- Keep up with the latest information in regards to what yo uare teaching- stay on the cutting edge and dont be afraid to incorporate your experiences into the classroom. Students have chosen to attend your institution because of their passion to learn that subject, and by showing as much passion and enthusiasm as possible will help to make a positive learning and teaching experience.

The most important quality is that of being able to do what is right and be ethical. Getting along in a constructive manner with others is a great asset and can help with the teaching of the overall class.

Highly effective instructors engage students with the proper curriculum, relate the materials and content to learning objectives, and communicate effectively with students with 'real world' scenarios and experiences students can relate with. Reaching your students properly provides the best forum for both teaching, and learning.

Effective Instructors have geat relatioships with their students

It is important for an instructor to fundamentally enjoy teaching; students can distinguish the difference between a teacher who acts the part and one who lives it. That said, I believe that a teachers success also lies in their own continues growth in their chosen field, awakening the passion of their craft invigorates one's desire to share knowledge.

Rhina,
Life experiences are good to share.
Philip Campbell

I totally agree. You can't just go through the motions, you have to show you have a passion for what you teach. A problem I use to have was not listening to their entire problem.I thought I knew what they were tring to say and jump in with my advice to help them solve their problem only to find out that I hadn't a clue of what there problem is. Once I learned to truly listen to what they were saying, that was when real learning started. I believe that was one of the best learned soft skills I have.

Humor, lifes experieces, and on the job techniques will keep students excited about their education

John,
True John. Consistency is the key.
Philip Campbell

Tierra,
If instructors love what they are doing the students will recognize this and be more involved.
Philip Campbell

Keeping things the same for EVERYONE is vital to keeping your school in business. It only takes one disgrunteled student to sink the ship entirely.

The most important quality that sets highly effective instructors apart from others is the love and concern for the students. I feel that being involved in education one most definitely not be doing it for financial reasons. Instructors must love what they do in order for the students to receive the best education that the instructor can give.

Christopher,
Good point. That is a talent.
Philip Campbell

There are many things that sets effective instructors apart but the way they communicate and approach students is key no matter the student or the situation because they are on student by student basis.

the ability to read people. This enables the instructor to be on top of any situation that may arise in the classroom.

In my opinion what sets highly effective instructors apart from others has to do with intrinsic motivation to pass on knowledge to the next generation of culinarians. I believe that it is all about seeing the students as individuals and taking the time to build a report with each student individually. The single most effective trait in a highly effective instructor is a love of learning and a passion for helping students to appropriate the skills and knowledge that they will need to become competent culinary professionals. The internal motivation on the part of the instructor is key in my opinion to becoming a highly effective instructor.

Daniel,
A positive attitude goes a long way.

Eva,
If you have that passion it will show, and students will be more vested in the class as well.
