Cynthia,
"positive outlook is the way to start every day", perfect and the students will appreciate that.
Philip Campbell

Yes! I agree positive outlook is the way to start every day. It can be a deal breaker in the classroom. The students feed off of your attidtude. So I start my day off with the attitude of I've gotten the day started it only gets better from here.

Heather,
Having an open mind is something that many people say they have. I wonder how open they really are?
Philip Campbell

Renee,
Agreed. Your attitude is likely to rub off on others in the workplace as well.
Philip Campbell

I believe that being open minded can open many doors professionally. It helps you understand others that you may be working with. It also allows for some artistic balance in the work environment. Each persons opinion should be cosidered and with an open mind this ability comes with ease.

Heather King

Having a positive attitude is a top important soft skill followed by being detail oriented in my opinion. Being positive allows for a strong EQ presence in the work place.

I cannot say that one is the most important over another, its a combination of all soft skills that will help make us successful. In my current position I must maintain attention to detail.I may miss a lot of important information which may cause production to lag. Besides being a company policy to be drug free, it is important as an individual for health and being a role model. Conflict resolution is necessary to maintain a healthy working relationship with co-workers. If you are not dependable, how worthy are you of your job? As well as how do you expect your employees to be dependable if you are not. And if you do not have integrity, how can you expect your team to always do the right thing even when no one is watching. So in my opinion, I cannot pick which is the most important as many will be needed to contribute to your success in your career. We need a little of all of them to be successful.

being a people person with students and co-workers

Bill,
Attitudes are contagious. Keep up the good work.
Philip Campbell

To be successful in any work place requires the ability to balance multiple soft skills. Maintaining integrity, dependability, respect and common sense will result in successful outcomes.

I agree with positive attitude. If you enjoy the subject your teaching then your students with follow.

Cara,
Teaching and modeling conflict resolution is an important skill and one that will go a long way.
Philip Campbell

The most important soft skills to have are understanding others and conflict resolution.

Niani,
Problem resolution is a major factor when getting hired and being able to have those skills are important. If we can help students with that before they leave, then that is great for the students.
Philip Campbell

A positive attitude is the most important soft skill. With a positive attitute, all other soft skills fall into place.
A person with a positive attitude is proud of themselves and is more likely to take care of themselves. They demonstrate healthy, balance lifestyles.
People with a positive attitude tend to demonstrate willingness to do more than what is required.
Other soft skills are very important and should be developed as a positive attitude is developed.

Having problem resolution, and the ability to motivate people to work together.

Apryl,
Individualized instruction is something that has been around for a long time and is only going to grow. Patience is a hard skill to teach, good for you for having it.
Philip Campbell

Renee,
Yes, compassion can be an important part to help out with the classroom.
Philip Campbell

Having common sense along with good attitude and empathy are very important skills. With these skills will be able to balance out when it comes to problems and learning from others.

soft skills are important to helping individulaize your teaching skills to each student as with each student some need certain soft skills more like patience and understanding
