Rebecca,

They can just follow you or you can create "versions" of you based on class. I think I am using it the same way as you this semester.

Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

I have not used any microblogging activities previously, but after reading this section I believe that I will try Twitter to see how it works. I believe my first attempts will be to just push out reminders to students of due dates and upcoming assingments, and connect them with materials that might be relevant to our studies.

I am not sure how to separate my courses, however. If I teach several different courses, do I have to create a separate account for each course? That is not quite clear to me.

denise,

I want to try delicious. I haven't used it yet. Has anyone used it and how did you? Please share.

Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

Depending on the course, I like to use discussion board forums, links to current events, polls, and have students post on youtube.

I recently opened up a delicious account:
https://delicious.com/

I have not used it to its full potential yet, but I like what I am using so far.

Bonnie,

It does and allows you to follow them. Great idea.

Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

Adding student polls encourage student interaction.

Joan,
Wow, how powerful would that be? This would be a great way to discuss ethics and other items. Oh the power. . .

Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

I agree, this tool could be an effective tool to update students on the legal and regulatory changes that occur everyday in the health care environment and solicit feedback. This could get some really good comments going.

DIANA ,

Great use of polling. It is easy to do and a great way to engage all students. Nice post!

Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

I like the idea of taking polls on student opinions. This is a good way to know how students feel and possibly make adjustments to something a student feels is not helping him or her grow in the learning environment.

Dennis,

True, and it teaches students to be concise and succinct communication!

Kelly

I have not incorporated any microblogging activities in classes yet, but I can see the potent benefits of Tweets to a class as announcements or reminders.

Cheers, Dennis

Dennis,

True, don't you think it can be used also to tie real life experiences with the learning?

Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

I think it is really appropriate for links to current events tied to the course topics and contents, updates on due dates, and other course activities.

William,

Great idea! Students do like it.

Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

Twitter feeds for updates on any relevant information about course content.

krystal,

I agree. I think there has to be a framework to work. This will student to pattern their microblogs after something.

Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

I agree with Aisling. If students are just beginning to microblog it would help everyone to become familiar with how it works. Perhaps posting due dates or reminders, feedbacks on discussions, answers to past tests, etc. Depending on the subject taught you could microblog facts or statements made about a subject matter and ask for commentary or opinions.

Jennifer,

I love your ideas!!!! I have toyed with tweeting but haven't taken the jump. This may be the way to do it. Great post.
