Mary
You are off to a great start. Add any anything that makes it easier for you.

In taking the course,I realized how important a note book could be. I am putting my note book together to include the following with tab dividers to make it easier to find info:
(other than printing up statutes and rules I have together the following)

Chapter 1005, Florida Statutes

Chapter 6 E, Florida Administrative Code Commission Rules

Catalog

Current Enrollment Agreement

Marketing materials

Institutional policies

Organization chart

Copies of license

Copies of past students evaluations

Did I miss anything that should be included? It was very helpful for site address of statues & FAC rules. Thank you

Shanna,
Thank you for your recommendation and feedback.

I used a resource book in another industry prior to working in Florida and it was such a powerful resource to help inform potential students of facts. It's great that Florida recommends admissions staff create and maintain a this type of resource. It's a great way to also make sure you are up to date on rules and regs as well as current marketing for your school.

Kettia,
Good advice. Make the notebook work for you.

I place rules and regulation and disclaimer notes so I can know I'm following rules and guidelines.

Jamie,
You will find each state is different although many concepts are the same. Details will be important to learn.

Adriana,
Thank you for posting. I am sure others will follow your lead.

We have campuses nationwide and it's always a huge benefit to have these resource notebooks readily available. With each state having particulars with their processes knowing what each of those are, helps and is vital as an admissions rep.

I followed the advice and I made the resource notebook with all necessary documents.

It also gave me the idea to make a Student resource book for every Program with key information about: important articles of the jewelry trade, great tools and equipment suppliers, new technology, etc.!

Randall
I wholeheartedly agree. Each institution is different due to their student base. Make the resource notebook fit you and your school. You have made excellent suggestions for additional material.

I think policies that the institution has regarding all sort of things should be included in the Resource Notebook. For example, how to deal with applicants who have dissabilities, criminal records; or dealing with applicants who have traditional diplomas versus GEDs, versus home school diplomas; how to handle stuents with foreign documentation; how to abide by the National Do Not Call registry, etc. All this information can be alphabetized or put in sections with headings addessing the topics. When policies change it's important to update the notebook.

Ashley,
Sounds like you have a great start. Keeping the information together and in a format you can use will keep you on the road to success.

I placed in my resource notebook:

Statutes and Regulations
Catalog
Application & Enrollment Agreement
All of our Advertising Booklets/Pieces
Accreditation standards
Our company policies
Our company mission & vision statements
Info on each program we offer
An organizational chart
Company directory
Required forms students must fill out

I'm sure I'm missing some things, but so far, this is what I've gathered together! It's nice having everything in one location and easy to access. Normally it takes me sorting through various files in my computer to find these things and a lot of them are only in hard copy format. So this has been very helpful!

What information have you placed in your Resource Notebook? What have you discovered that you didn't know about the institution or the rules and regulations it must abide by?

Donna,
Feel free to make the notebook your own beyond the basics. Add your institutional information, a contact list or advertising slicks. Let the book work for you!

I am just putting my notebook together and realized what an important tool it will be for me working in this position

Kevin,
Great job! Feel free to tailor your resource book by adding any additional information that makes your job easier. Try sharing your ideas with other agents.

I put all the paperwork necessary for enrollment such as enrollment agreement and transcript request forms. In addition marketing materials and curriculum information are inserted as well.

Martin,
Great news! Keep your notebook handy and updated for current information.
