I would like to add advertisement to this list because it is one of the main questions that we ask for our inquiries that come in. We make sure that we know where they heard of us to see what marketing tool is most successful in order to put our efforts in the right forum for every semester. Especially now that we have such easy access to the Internet. There are many places for the school to put their efforts to reel in students and remain competitive with so many Online schools as well.

The terms/ definitions used on a daily basis in my school would include Program, Scholarship, Regulations, Institution, Accreditation, Counselors, Enrollment, and Agent.

Some of the terms in our institution are:
Advertising- this is publications, catalogs, brochures, or flyers that can recruit the institution.
Agent- is a person who is employed by an independent postsecondary educational institution under the jurisdiction of the florida comission for independent education.

Agreed, I plan to set up a re-occuring task reminder on Outlook to regularly check for updates to my Resource Notebook.

I learned that the rules change rapidly and if there was not mandatory guidelines and expectations chaos could insue. As a nurse I know it is hard to stay on top of new medications and protocols, I didn't realize that it was just as hard to stay current in education.
I realize that now. Thank you for developing courses such as this to maintain continuity.

It was helpful for me to know that such resources are available. I am indirectly involved with admissions. The resources that I have complied are great. I have a better understanding of the process as well as the rules governing the process.

- Commission For Independent Education Rules
- Rule 6E-1.0032, F.A.C. Fair Consumer Practices
- Section 1005.38, F.S. Actions Against a
Licensee and Other Penalties
- Section 1005.34, F.S. Fair Consumer Practices; Condition of Operation

I have placed a copy of the Rules in my resource Notebook. Luckily, I came from another Private Post-Secondary institution in Florida. This being said, I have already completed agent training and have been very aware of the CIE Rules, enrollment agreements, catalogs etc.

Hi Patty,

This is my first time through the course, so I am still gathering information for my Resource Notebook. I am extremely organized so when I read this concept, I was right on board. So far I have:

- The Overview of Admissions Staff Training Program
- Rule 6E-2.010, F.A.C. Agents
- Terms and Definitions
- Creating a Resource Notebook
- Admissions Staff Training Process

I have already been gathering several documents that are specific to our program; schedules, Enrollment Agreements, Course Descriptions, Financial Aid Information, Syllabi, etc. This gives me a great place to put them all, instead of in a file in my drawer.

Hello Everyone, I discovered that the only one way to stay up-to-date about your institution and the Commission For Independent Education Rules is by gathering and updating the information from the school and the CIE weekly--- assembling and maintaining a Resource Notebook is a requisite if you want to be able to know all the information that prospective students need.

I am currently building my Resource Notebook with the Commission For Independent Education Index, Key Terms and Definitions, Enrollment Agreement ... and am building on resources for Marketing Plan for each month, Organizational Chart, key contacts for Placement Director and Director of Education. My DOA has also assisted in putting together a notebook for other key forms, FA information, Pre-Matriculation policies, etc. Both make me feel confident I have information at my fingertips to best direct and educate each prospective student. The Fair Consumer Practices sets great guidelines for all staff on my campus to work together on the same page to provide excellence to our students. Very helpful!

Some of terms used at our school:

1) Enrollment Advisor- Sets the path to fulfill educational goals by enrolling and helping with forms and requirements; the “go-to” person for questions about the University and student life.

2) Academic Advisor- Advises on program of choice and also helps set student’s schedule based on degree requirements.

3) Financial Advisor - Advises on the Tuition Assistance Plan as well as other alternative funding resources if necessary.

4) University Orientation – A three-week, no charge, non-credit workshop that provides information to help students make the right decision about their academic future and the tools to help them succeed.

I've added:
Terms & definitions, Student enrollment agreement, Sec 1005.34 and the F.S. Consumer Practices

We have both a Pearson Vue and a Prometric testing center at this location. We do all Microsoft certification testing.

John,
Does your school actually conduct the testing for Microsoft certification?

Santrel,

The Commission for Independent Education is the regulatory body under the Department of Education for non-public post-secondary schools.

Craig,

This is important information that a prospective student needs to know.

Natasha,
Adding a syllabus is a great idea! It gives the students a clear perspective of what is required in a particular class.
