I just began working in my school and this is my second course and this help me a lot, apart of that I study everything about the school, programs, policies and all departments so i can give the best and correct information to my students.
right now I would say I have an understanding of 7, but I plan to keep working until I have a 10. just some of the stuff I now is all the programs offered, how long we've been around, and the costs and benefits to an applicant choosing us. some of the areas to improve on are the knowledge of the individual parts.
I would rate my knowledge about my institution as informed and adequate. I am a new employee so I do not have years of experience, however, I have spent a great deal of time in training. One facet of this job I learned early on is that I continue to learn as a go.
I know a great deal about this institution since I actually went here for my professional education. I have watched it grow and change over the past 15 years to become a mature and well organized college.
From the clinical setting to the organizational structure I understand how this place runs. I beleive it is essential for at least one of the admissions committee to be that deeply involved.
I would rate my knowledge where i work really good. I have been there for more than 7 years so I was able to work a little bit in every dept and multi task with people. So getting to know every aspect of a place is great learning. I have learned thru this course that the Notebook as a resource not only for my job but others is a GREAT help!.
Liusmila,
Make sure you are understanding the difference between accreditation and licensure. The Department of Education, Commission for Independent Education licenses your institution. Accreditation is voluntary and must be applied to.

Edric,
Try visiting other areas of your school. Check out the faculty and even try sitting in on a few classes to get the student side.

I would rate the my knowledge level about my institution as good. I prepare the application for the State and have a big say in program planning. Regardless of how many years I have been doing this, I always manage to learn something new.
I am well knowledged in admissions, and have some general idea of what other deparments do which helps me better undertsnad how this institution works.
Since i am a small cosmetology school i wear many hats. Being the owner, Pres., the person who talks to prospective students, does all the license renewal i feel i have very good knowledge about the institution here. But every day presents new challenges so i did appreciate the class as such since is helps to keep everyone focused on what's important.
Luckily I have worked at the institution for 9 years, and have been able to move through several positions in Admissions, from Data Entry to Sr. Admissions Counsleor. I have also taken courses at the school. As an employee I have been able to learn the in and outs of each department, the procedural side. As a student I was able to learn everything else. I have also been in a position to train new employees on all procedural levels in Admissions.
I am an owner of a Cosmetology and Restricted Barber Academy and I started on the ground floor by doing the paperwork required to get the school licensed. During which time I wrote the catalog, admissions agreement and the various required forms, Policies and Procedures and all other required paperwork. I set up the general ledger, A/P, A/R, P/R, financial statements etc. I did all of the accreditation paperwork and all of the Title IV paperwork. I do the bookkeeping, all paperwork and admissions for now. We only have 15 students at this time and only two are full time. I have, however learned alot from this course. Admissions was getting out of control and with the notebook and lists I have it under control now. Thank you.
