Transfer policy
It is extremely important to know the transfer policies of your institution. I probably get those questions at least a couple of times a day.
Aline,
Your school is also governed by the Board of Nursing. They should also provide you additional guidance.
Aline,
Transcripts should be official transcripts, delivered in sealed envelopes for authenticity.
transcripts should come directly from the licensed/approved or licensed/accreditated school.
nursing courses and clinicals should not be transferred.(theory or Practice) School will lose its credentials to the public with subsequent repeated failure of the students. the nursing aspect is dominant during the board examination therefore students should prove themselves for the safety of the Public.
agreed! i get that question a lot too, is very important to know all regulations in order to let the student know right away.
Anita,
You have a very good process.
Jennifer,
The student needs to understand that it is up to the receiving institution which credits they will accept.
Nakia,
You bring an important point to the forum. Personal experience is just that, no more. My experience will differ from yours. The personal experience brings credibility.
Pamela,
They want to be assured that they are receiving an education that will be recognized by other educational institutions. It is their responsibility to do the research.
We make it very clear to our leads what hours are transferable ond which are not. Transcripts from previous schools are required, and an instructor evaluation is important.
Dale,
Training is important to remain knowledgeable and compliant.
Hector,
Students should provide the official transcript and the catalog under which the credits were earned in order to speed up the process.
Yes..it is up the receving institution to accept the college credits. The student need to provide the transcrit..
yes we have traning this all the time we have to be in compliance
As an admissions represenative should convey the appropiate information stated in the your schools catalog, not your personal experience because it will differ from the potential students experience and what is stated in your institutions policy for transferability of credits which becomes a compliance issue for you and the school.
This in indeed a question that I receive often. So important to many students.
I do lean on our Registration department to help students determine their transfer of credits but again, it is up to the student complete their investigation as well. I do suggest to always bring in your life experiences as well to help the student understand that every school does not except credits. For example, I went to a Community College first then went to a school three hours away and half my credits transfered even though I was in the same state. It re-insures the student that this may happen to them as well and to pick a program that they know they will complete and be happy with their decision.
Andrea,
....and it is the student's responsibility to research.
Lana,
Exactly! Good process.
