So many choices

How would you convince the prospect student that the school you are representing is his or her best choice?

Jennifer,
Active listening is part of the admissions process. In order to find whatever services the student needs, we need to ask open ended questions and delve into their situation to provide them the best services.

Patty Aronoff

As an admissions representative/agent, the idea is to listen to the prospective student to determine what their needs are in fulfilling their goals. You then provide truthful information along with direction to any other representatives in departments such as Financial Aid or Career Services in an effort to determine whether or not your institution might be the "best choice" for them.

Stephanie,
Social media has had a huge impact on our sector. It quickly connects people over the mediums and shares information, good or bad.

Going to get a postsecondary education is a huge decision because it not only can affect the student's life, but also can affect their spouse, children, family, etc.
I personally feel like it is up to each individual student. There is only so much you can do for each student. You can't force something if you don't have what they need.
There are different factors that each student looks at when making a choice for which college to attend. The best way to win over that student is to be sure to address those factors HONESTLY, not just saying what they want to hear. If you are dishonest and they sign up and realize you misled them, so many negative things could result. That student could launch an online campaign about the dishonesty of the school. Blogs are so popular and widespread.

Teresa,

The more information, the better the student experience is. Informed decisions are the only way to do business.

Patty Aronoff

The best way to convince the prospect student that your institution is the best choice it being able to provide the student with all the necesary information of the intitution you are representing like;
Academic Offer
Amission requirements
Fees
Financial Aid

Mitchell,
Agreed! It is a personal decision not a universal one. Being truthful and supportive is so important.

Patty Aronoff

I don't believe it is about convincing anyone that we are the better choice but we can do our best to service the student with all of the correct information so the student makes the best choice for him or her. There are a lot of choices out there and all we can do is tell them the truth and be supportive.

Robert,
Agreed! It is very important as how we direct our efforts in order to provide the best information possible.

Patty Aronoff

Although, I believe in some instances there are too many choices for prospective students, it is still in the students best interest to educate them as best as possible about the opportunities and options with your school. This is done by focusing on your educational environment and not other schools. It is also accomplished by being as up to date with rules, regulations and offerings.

Pamela,
Students will have a better chance hen they are passionate about their decision. When they have to face trials and tribulations, they are then far more motivated to do whatever it takes to get through it.

Patty Aronoff

Richard,
If we give them the tools, we give them the future.

Patty Aronoff

Adolfo,
It is the right way and the best way.

When they request information about a school it truly must be a good fit. The end goal is for them to love what they have learned and enter the work force with training and the tools to be successful.

MY GOAL IS TO GIVE THEM THE TOOLS AND KNOWLEDGE TO FEEL SECURE WITH THEMELVES WHEN THEY ARE ON THEIR OWN.

Conveying how your school is different and demonstrating why it is worth what it costs will help you attract students. Each interaction provides an opportunity for your school to reinforce and validate enrollment.
We need to provide them with the most accurate information about what the school has to offer, treat the students with respect, and explain all the services that the institution offers to them. This will help the students make the best choice for them.

I think you stated it correctly. Giving students misleading information only seeks to create a disgruntled customer. This inturn will only give the school a bad reputation. Successful students lead to a successful school.

cosette,

The decision must truly be their own. I believe if we provide them honest and true information, they are given the best opportunity to make the right decision for themselves. We want them to be successful for when they are successful, we are successful!

Ms. Saba

This is the challenge for the marketing team to focus on. It's the true essence of what attracts the potential student to your institution and program. I believe the atrractiveness would be most program accessibility, schedule flexiblity, staff and overall program attractiveness. Truly selling it to the student and the benefits to them.
