Shannon,
We need to have quality interviews in order to provide the quality customer service expected.
Patty Aronoff
trang,
Student services is an important part of the experience. Everyone needs to lean on someone at some point.
Patty Aronoff
Students will know if your an all about the numbers rep...I knew plenty of reps like this and they never connected with there students...
I feel that by conducting a good interview and asking the right questions you can identify the quality which in turn will help with retention and a good student body.
Yes, we always make sure that all of our students needs have been met at all times
Kathy,
Complete transparency and open communication will provide them the information they need to make the right decision for themselves.
Patty Aronoff
Carmenza,
It is a natural occurrence. When the student is focused and their needs met, they will stay in school. Otherwise, they will drop.
Patty Aronoff
Students need to have several options when choosing the right school for their academic goals. Hence, several different accrediting bodies and programs at various schools.
Providing a quality education in their subject area should be the purpose for the student to have chosen to attend your institution.
I agree. When institutions focus on students and not enrollment. Their retention increases, because the school if fufilling the needs of the studnet and not the institution.
Michael,
Good open communication can help surmount these obstacles. This is why I often cry tears at graduation. I see those students where they started at and then applaud their success.
Patty Aronoff
Judy,
Yes, and a drop from the school does not help the student or the school. We need to be working on finding the right fit for both.
Patty Aronoff
I happen to work for a for-profit university and we have an open enrollment policy. I used to fight some of the enrollment advisors on some of the students they wanted to enroll. I made extra effort to meet with the student in advance and be completely transparent with them to make sure they are well aware of what to expect as a student. There was one young man who was enrolled and I just knew he would never make it. He had very poor typing skills, didn't have a vehicle and was working a couple of jobs. To my surprise, he toughed it out and is close to graduating. I'm so proud of him. He heard what to expect, jumped through the hurdles and is coming out smelling like a rose. I'm super proud of him.
It's in the best interest of both the student and the school to get it right. If you are not focusing on the right fit, the student will eventually leave.
Sherri,
Thank goodness there are second chances in this world! For your student base, the world is filled with "no" and bringing the opportunity to change a no to a yes is very rewarding.
Patty Aronoff
I work for a non-profit school and part of our mission statement is to help the underprivileged. It has been such a rewarding experience to watch our students grow and achieve and become self sufficient. I have found that some are underestimated when it comes to the admission process, as determination and perseverance are not always easily measured during that time. Second chances have changed many lives and the private school sector certainly serves a purpose.
Joann,
Most schools are looking for finding the right fit for both the student and the school. This helps in enrollment and retention.
Patty Aronoff
Thelma,
We feel better about what we are doing here in admissions. We should focus on the student first and is this the right fit.
Patty Aronoff
Chanquinta,
We love referrals! They are the best way to draw in new enrollments. They are free and come with the best of public relations.
Patty Aronoff
Shauntay,
We should always remember that we are dealing with people and changing lives. This is the purpose and mission of our schools.
Patty Aronoff
Jael,
Sometimes we forget this important fact. If we have enrollments that do not stay, we are not sustaining the purpose of the school. They are people, not numbers.
