Clarification of "approved" and "accredited"
I understand "accredited" but what are some examples or circumstances where "approved" would be used?
Charmaine,
Yes, some schools may receive programmatic accreditation for specific programs. However, when someone refers to accreditation as a general question they are usually asking about the school's institutional accreditation status so you would most likely refer to the organization that grants your school instituitional accreditation (assuming the school is institutionally accredited).

John wouldn't accrediation come from the board that governs the particular program that the school offers?
Adam,
Most state licensing agencies do not "accredit" schools, they approve and/or license the school. So schools can say they are approved by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools.
