Walt ,

I encourage you to check with your school to see if they have any policies regarding the use of social networks.

Kimberly Stein

not to my knowledge (new employee), however I am very much interested in knowing how I could use facebook to promote my institution.

i think social networking is a great way to get students in and keep them up to date with whats going on in that particular school.

The majority of our marketing has not focused on social networking, however it is something we are looking into. It seems as though it can be a very useful tool in marketing.

This school has it own social website and the marketing team has its own agenda and do a fantastic job, and I believe that we are not allowed to socialize on personal site do to compliance issues. You have to get ads cleared by Marketing before being posted think this answers it.

I think that using social media to reach students is a great way to market the school. but I think having a personal page to "friend" them is unprofessional.

Not sure about networking sites here and not sure how they would help bring in new students.

I think Social Networking can be a great tool for Reps but it can also be a big problem. It is important to maintain a professional relationship with these students and monitor what we say. Once you hit "return", your comments are now owned by the web.

First, it has put us out there to a wider variety of people. it makes us more main stream to a different demographic that might be interested in our school that normally would not know how to find us or that we even exsist. Yes my school does have a social media page and it gets hits evry day from interested people. and those people tend to be the ones who follow thru with their training because it was their own interest that made them look for us. not us hunting them down so to speak.

We do not heavily rely on social media as a means of dispensing information or connecting with students or potential students. The use of SN sites by institutions and corporations is largely promotional and amounts less to genuine connectedness between themselves and their constituents and often more to cheap marketing. While more traditional marketing strategies may be less popular or cutting edge, they seem more honest to me.

Social media has ahd a positive impact on our school, students, campus and enrollment. We have been able to use it for free advertising, event promotions and to get public opinion. It is a great tool at a school sdisposal as long as it is monitored. We will con tinue to use these sites to gain popularity due to the positivie impact it has already had.

Our program is a start-up, so we are in the discussion stages of the role of social networking sites.

Our school does Facebook. Social Networking sites are a great way to almost immediately connect with your students.

Personally, I think social networking sites have made it more important than ever to monitor my own personal accounts on facebook/twitter/etc... Prospective students, especially high schoolers, have been known to try to look up their recruiters after they come and talk to them. I think it is crucial to make sure that although this is a wonderful resource to reach out to thousands of students, it is also important to remember to monitor my personal life.

That's interesting. It certainly is an intergral part of communication in this day and age-especially with the younger demographic. We do not have a social networking site. I do, believe, it can be / is one of those difficult 'beasts' to tame & control. Where I believe it can be an invaluable tool for many organizations, groups, businesses etc....I truly believe that unless you are absolutely confidant and positive that it can be managned consistently, appropirately, accurately and legally, it would be better not to proceed with a social networking site to communicate with student, faculty, use for advertising--or 'whatever'. The damage it potentially can cause may not be worth the 'pontential' benefits.

Social Network has helped a lot more students communicate that way.

The explosion of social networking hasn't changed my communication with students, and it shouldn't change anyones. Students should use Facebook as a platform to connect with other students attending the school. It can be a great way to meet new friends and make the transition to college a lot more comfortable.

our school has a facebook page

It has helped greatly. It gives future student a way to talk with current students and see how they like the school. It also helps get our School out there.

the social networking sites help to give prospective students "prospect" from other students and representatives of the school. They do have a plan...
