Social networking gives the students and prespective student a sense of school spirt where they can have there friends see that they "like" the school or "follow" the school. instant word of mouth.

We do have some social networking on web pages but I believe they will be doing more in the future to increase enrollment.

It has change/ altered the hs markwt a lot. they like to text and be on the web all the time.

Mr. Ware,

Social Networks have become a major neccessity for prospectives students because it allow them see comments from their own peers and yes our school has a strategy to keep up with this fast growing phenom of social networks.

Students today no matter what the age utilize social netwroking sites as a primary means of cimmunication now. Many times students will check these social networking sites more often than more tradtional methods of communication. They will be more likely to respond and respond in a more efficent manner than via phone. As a result, being able to utilize these social networking sites to stay in touch with students can be the difference in success or failure.

Avis,

This sounds like an interesting use of social media that permits social interaction but in a more controlled environment.

Although our school will be launching a social interactive learning platform, we still make sure to take care we are not "friending" students on our personal social media connections with our students. Our social learning platform that will house their online classes can allow them to "friend" professors, staff, classmates, and other students with similar interests as them but it's only through the school system. You can post from the site to your facebook/linkedin/twitter, but no one else can view any of your personal social media persmissions other than yourself. I think having this feature will help us connect more with our online students and give them a sense of place without having to dodge personal "friend" requests on facebook or other sites.

Social media marketing and communications has revolutionized the marketing industry. As a school we do advertising and marketing through sites like facebook and twitter. In addition to just the marketing plan, our college has invested over the past several years to develop an interactive intuitive social learning platform that will be launching this year. This platform will house their online classes but what makes it amazing is that we can customize it to give online students more of a social experience of a campus. Online faculty, advisors, and staff members like myself have an account with our personal profiles and it's nice because my existing students who enrolled last year can "friend" me and I can see their social posts, their picture, and also post to their school wall. It's very user friendly and they can sync their twitter, linkedin, and facebook account to make posts directly from their school site. It's also nice because it makes resources easily accessible to students (they can see which of their friends is currently online, or their advisor to message them or directly connect to the online resource center or get immediate assistance. I'm very excited that our school saw the opportunity to support students through social media resources, and it makes sense to interact with our students via the methods they're most familiar with online.

Honestly, it hasn't affected my job much at all because I don't work in marketing but I do refer to our Facebook page during admission interviews.

I would say that the impact of social media has been huge. Many students now are trying to friend admissions representatives and communicate through those means. There is a lot of concern with compliance with social media, so it is very unlikely that many reps will take part. However, I work for a very innovative college that always challenges the status quo. We have actually built a true online college that will be unleashed in a month or so. We found that this will allow online students to truly be a part of the college. Although they are not attending a classroom, we are trying to give students an identity for school. Our college definitely engages in social media marketing and I imagine that it will only grow in the coming fiscal year.

I feel social networking would have an impact on potential students as well as already enrolled students. This could be an information forum and answer FAQs about the college. Unfortunately, there may be some misleading information if someone were to comment with their opinion. This could result with a negative outcome.

It is a great way to reach out, problems lie in the ability to monitor posts. You want it to be interactive as much as possible to really enhance the experience and the marketability, however, you also open yourself to someone creating compliance issues.

Our school's facebook and twitter pages are a great way to connect with students. We use social networking sites to highlight our student's accomplishments as well as informing them about any upcoming events that they might want to be a part of. And for me, primarily working with high school students, it's a great place for students to find out more about our school and ask questions via facebook/twitter.

Yes we do market on social network sites. There is a high traffic of potential students on the social networks. In some cases, that may be the only way that they may hear about our programs, so why not.

No, social networking is not permitted.

Social Networking provides a perfect way to communicate to both our younger and older potential students.

I marketing plan doesn't include social networking sites. The SN is basically used for student discuss and upcoming events.

I would agree with being careful about friending students on your personal Facebook page. This is the very reason why I have a professional Facebook page with all of my professional information on it. In conjunction with this, I have increased the security on my personal Facebook page so that student cannot attempt to add me as a friend. This keeps me compliant with all regulations and policies.

The popularity of social networking has tremendously affected communications with students. It gives the agent a direct line of communication with the student. Since most students have smartphones in which these social media notifications can be received instantly, it provides a greater opportunity to catch the interest of the student. The student then can ask personal questions, as well as follow up questions.

Our marketing on social networking has skyrocketed and have seen major results. Younger I might add, students it seems these are about the only avenues they visit or care about these days sadly
