Getting to know your school

Being that we need each other to make the school successful, It is improtant to take the time and get to now management and the instructors in order to give a well rounded view to the prospective students

As a new employee, I cannot stress enough how important it is to know your teammates, and all administration in the organizational chart of the school. When meeting with a prospective student for the first time, I want to have all the up to date current information on our programs, policies etc. Keeping an open line of communication can only warrant positive results as it applies to informing a potential student.

Each school is a "system" and has various departments responsible for different tasks. The sooner students understand how departments function the better the experience. As an agent, I believe it is our job to help the student understand the system.

It is important to be knowledgeable about the details of the school, staff, programs and campus in order to best represent a positive reputation and to be a reliable source of information to prospective students.

As part of my acclimation, I interviewed all directors from each program at our campus. This was quite beneficial and the information stuck better than just reading it.

It is important to know staff and faculty and communicate with them. If you build rapport with other members of the team, the overall atmosphere of the school is positive. Prospective students see and feel this positive culture when touring the school.

It is crucial to know the programs, talk to instructors and understand what students are saying to be able to convey this to new students.

It is very important to get to know the management and the instructors. By showing the prospective students that we as staff and faculty are actually team members with the same goal in mind, providing our students with a successful education. When giving a tour of our college and stopping by classroom, it means a great deal to the prospective student when the instructor takes the time to talk to him/her. But this can only be accomplished by management and faculty having a very good rapport.

I agree with this point as all departments should work together and use each other as resources to produce the end result which is student success.

I find this statement to be correct. Networking with co-workers allows for the adviser to be "better equipped", with information regarding specific programs. Also, it allows for the adviser, and colleagues to be on the same page when it comes to specific programs, qualifications, and opportunities available to students.
