Interesting

Well this is certainly an interesting conversation to begin after reading through this first section of my renewal. Accreditation is so important for a school to have when it comes to having your students and prospective students have confidence in the school they will be attending. What I found to be noticeably imperative for an Admissions Representative to know is that it is okay to say that you do not know the answer to a question. Many prospective students have been shopping for a school for a while and have talked to many of us trying to find the right fit. What is interesting is that they expect us to know the answers sometimes very suddenly, others do not. And you have to be firm when you do not know the answer. Do not let a student pressure you into giving an answer they want to hear, rather than the realistic truthful answer.

I agree, our Institution also has a large variety of programs that have different requirements and programmatic accreditations. It is always best to tell the student that you will get an answer for them, and follow up after confirming that you have the correct answer.

I absolutely agree that prospective students do expect admissions representatives to know everything. I always let them know that if I don't have the answer for them that I will contact my admissions director in order to give them the correct information.

You're right that open communication is imperative. Our institution has different programmatic requirements, and it can be challenging to remember every detail of every one. If I ever am unsure of something, I will also reach out the fellow faculty and or staff members.

You are right about prospective students expecting us to know all the answers. When you don't know an answer to something, never never guess. In the long run it is better to give truthful, accurate information.

Yes, this is true. I have found that prospects value my honesty. If I do not know an answer, I am very quick to reach out to my fellow faculty or admssions members to get the correct info. It is important to maintain an open line of communication.
