I think it's always best to have the student do their own research and find out the informaion about competitive schools. I try to say as little as possible and just provide the strengths of my school.

I agree. Being positive portrays you and your institutions professionalism to students. They will have more respect and trust for you and the school.

High road is always the best. But always remember , the prospect trusts you and the people surrounding you at our schools. And that right there is what will not let them shop.

I agree it always better to take the high road it makes you look better in the end

I totally agree with you I up sell our school and point out all of our positives i never put down another school.

I believe its always better to take the "High Road" and Never say anything negative about another school.

same here.... many people have enrolled at our schools just becuase we dont put other schools down necessarily and highlight "for profit " school strengths :)

We have the same situation with a community college closer to the school where I work. I get many phone calls from prospective students comparing us to them. I just tell them to check out that school first hand and then our school and any other schools they are thinking of going to in order to make the best informed decision.

I completely agree I truly believe in taking the high road

I completely agree with this statement. I often hear complaints about our competitors in the area. I usually respond by saying, "I am so sorry you had that negative experience at ...school." Then I go into the types of things the student can expect from our school and how positive those differences are for the student.

I completely agree. It is key when talking with students to focus on the main strengths and benefits of the program you offer. we offer information sessions students can attend to get more information on our program. This helps students decided if our program is the best fit for them.

i find it best to just simply say " I cannot comment on any other school...I know nothing about them..."...and then just continue with all the strengths and positive features about our school and its programs.

It is always best practice to not ever state negative aspects about another school.

I agree. Making negative remarks towards your competition makes you look unprofessional. I believe that every student to choose the best school that fits their needs.

We have several colleges in the area. We know that each is still around because of strengths. We need to acknowledge these while high lighting our own.

I think it is important to focus on your school's strengths that prospective students will be able to make a wise decision. I think it is important to talk only about your school and refer them to that other school's website if they have questions.

We have the same issues here. State schools feel that it is okay to put down "for profit" schools. I have had many students that it actually turns off more than anything. I have had several even go to another 'for profit" school and come to us and tell us how bad it made that school look and they would not enroll just because they spent time putting down another school.

I agree. Negitive remarks about another school only makes you look bad. I suggest that students get enough information to make an informed decision on the program and school to decide what is going to be the best fit for them.

We practice the same by encouraging students that have questions to gain information from other colleges or institutions in order to make the best decision.

We have a state college that is 10 minutes from our campus and we get comments all the time from prospective students that have gone to that school or have inquired about attending there and the school tells them that we are not "accredited". So we tell the students that we are accredited but we are not the same accreditation as the State College and that is why they may be stating that we are not accredited.

It is very frustrating to constantly hear this statement being made by the State College and we have talked with them and discussed our accreditation with them to no avail. We still maintain our statement to try to clear up any confusion that the prospective student may have but we never run down the competition.
