Texting
How many of you text your prospective students and at what time during the Admissions process do you feel that is appropriate?
I was under the impression that there are regulations on texting.
Do you text from a company cell phone or do you some type of PC based texting program?
I like to use text messaging when a students phone number is not working. Many of our students have pre-paid phones and can receive text messages when their minutes run out. We do not text from personal phones either.
We have recently starting texting from the initial request we get.
We text to remind them of appointment, if the appointment is missed.
I don't feel that texting is appropriate. People have to pay for those. And while $0.10 may not be a lot, if we are sending multiple texts... I feel it should at least be an option the student can opt for.
I agree completely. The rise of new technology apeals to certain demographics. Where I am currently employeed, we DO NOT use personal cell phones. We always identify ourselves and who we represent. Some students (and prosepective students) prefer to text.
I agree, I would like to know more about options for texting. We are allowed to text our students once they give us permission, but with many students this would be a great way for us to communicate more effectively (especially when we cannot reach them on the phone).
I would like to know if there are rules or regulations concerning text messaging. I think this could be a great tool for contacting students.
I am curious if there are any regulations on texting prospective and currecnt students. Admissions representatives at our school are prohibited from texting, but we have had instances where students have asked to be texted.
We do not have the ability to text. My organization is concerned with compliance regulations and that the message could be easily altered and interpreted differently. They are working on getting us "canned" messages to assist us in making more contacts.
Texting for us is used when a student enrolls. We tend to only use it when we have lost contact with a student.
Our office uses texting all the time. We seem to have great luck reaching our current/potential students that way. Technology has changed over the years and this is an efficient way to reach people.
i agree , i have a lot of luck using texting verse just calling or emailing now.. we dont use personal cell phones either, helps a lot with following up once enrolled...
Due to the rise in technology we text very often. However, we do not text from personal sell phone and we always identify who we are in the text. Texting is usually used once we are have a student who is already enrolled and we are trying to follow up with them and assist them through the admissions process. This is very helpful when we have an enrolled student who has a pre-paid phone and is out of minutes because they are still able to text.
