Alexis,
Allowing your student the option to choose how they would like to pay for their books. Do you feel that more students use FA than not?
Cindy Bryant
In general, especially the first term that a student is with us, we order their books for them and have them sent to their door. The books and other materials are sent out about a week and a half before courses start to ensure that the students not only have their books in a timely manner but that they have the correct book, edition, etc.
Our college gives the choice to the student to either purchase the books on their own, or use financial aid to pay for the books and have us order the books for them. If they have us order the books the are sent out via UPS a week before classes start.
Once a student is scheduled for their classes, we discuss which books they will need for each individual course. We will go over student kits, prices, and verifying all information. All students receive their materials before the first day of classes. We have stressed the importance of distributing student materials on time these last semesters.
Our students, regardless of pell grant eligibility, are given the choice to order their books on their own or by the school. Students electing to order their own books are given detailed descriptions and information about the book to ensure the correct edition is ordered. First time students at the institution are usually recommended to allow us to order the books to ensure the most positive experience with us. If there is a backorder issue we can respond with the best customer service and provide them with the first weeks assignment materials online along with the reading material. Our bookstore also allows us to check student's shipment status. This allows us to keep tabs on any problems. Ultimately, it is the students choice and we support their choices in whatever way possible.
At our institution, students are offered their options at the time of registration. They can choose to have course materials ordered for them and sent to their home, or they are emailed a book list to obtain materials on their own. In case there are university bookstore delays or even shipping delays from the student's personal order, the first few chapters of most texts are available online. Students receive an email with a link to the online documents, and can access them through their online course module as well. These options are available to all students, regardless of Pell eligibility.
We ship our books to our students the week before classes start Pell eligible students or Non-Pell eligible students.
Our students have the option to either order their books or their own or have us order them for them and have them shipped to them. If the student chooses to order them on their own then they are provided with the proper information for what books they will be needing so that they get the correct books. If they have us order them we go ahead and do so at the time at which they are scheduled. In order to make sure our students books aren't stolen or lost we typically don't ship out books until a week before their classes start. For students who receive their books late due to either them scheduling on the last day or their book being back-ordered, our instructors/success coaches have the proper information that they would need in order to help any student that does not have proper information initially.
Brendan,
Hi. Welcome to the forum. I believe that I have mentioned this before but allowing the students to order their own materials is a great idea. This allows the student to exercise their professional development skills through organization and planning ahead.

Students can obtain required materials for their classes through the school or by their own means with the ISBN number. My organization sends course text and materials via UPS when the student requests we provide them. They are typically shipped the week before classes and go via 2nd Day air to ensure timely arrival. In the event that books are delayed or shipped to the incorrect address, course instructors have the ability to offer the first few chapters to the students through our e-library, at their discretion. This allows students to participate without being penalized for a shipping error.
Our students have the choice of ordering textbooks/materials through the school or on their own. When ordered through the school, students generally receive materials the week before classes begin. In the event any back order situations occur (and it has happened) the first few chapters of class textbooks are available through our online library.
Shaun,
Fantastic! It always best to get students started on the right foot.

Hi Cindy,
This is for sure the case. Our students are always eager to get into their student kits and textbooks. We provide cutting edge materials to students, so their experiences as students start off on a very exciting note.
Shaun,
Hi! Do you feel that students receiving materials in a timely fashion make a significant difference in student satisfaction?
Cindy Bryant
All student materials, including books, are distributed to students on the first day of school. Students sign off on a detailed list acknowledging receipt of all materials.
Students receive their student kit on the first day of school. This includes all of the state required supplies, plus any other supplies they might need for training and all necessary textbooks.
All students receive numerous textbooks as well as industry tools on the first day of class. These student kits are ordered beforehand, usually based on the school's forecast of student starts. Students, utilizing a kit checklist, will sort through their kit with an educator present to ensure all necessary items are present. If any issues arise, the school director can immediately order individual textbooks or tools for the student, these will normally arrive within a few days.
Our company orders the books and supplies two weeks before classes start to ensure they arrive before the student starts. Then on the first day of class the student kit with books and supplies is given out.
Hello,
Our students books are ordered for them and they generally arrive before classes begin for each semester. In the first week of class the coaches/advisors which we have on campus actively reach out to the students to see if they have received their books in a timely manner.
As a non-profit agency, licensed under the State of Florida's Commission for Independent Education, at the present time, we offer only one course, which is a Basic ABC Pre-Construction Course. Prior to the start of each course, all eligible students who are enrolled, are provided with the course materials and books necessary to complete the course. As a program manager, I ensure that each student has the proper materials needed the very first day of class. Although our program is small in size, as to the number of students enrolled for the start of each course, we maintain an adequate supply of course materials and books, which are readily accessible by our staff and course instructor, as needed.
