Apryl,
What specifically would you change on your website?

Dr. Jean Norris

More user friendly website

I agree with this as well. It may be that program-specific information sessions are arranged so that students can make more informed choices about their future. This will allow program faculty to meet potential students, answer questions about the profession and give in-depth detail about the program. Some of our students did not know anything about the actual profession before signing up for courses, nor did they have any experience or volunteer/observation experience in the field.

Rebecca, Great awareness! Follow-up it such an important part of great service, and I agree that it will help with productivity. Nicely done!

I would like to see greeting people with a smile become a tend on our campus. Also following through with coworkers and students alike. I believe this would improve the overall morale of the campus; improving everyone productivity.

Laurel, Interesting! What specifically needs to be changed in each department?
Dr. Jean Norris

Susan, Interesting! What are other things you can do to get this practice in place? It sounds like there is a great opportunity.
Dr. Jean Norris

So sad to say that my school needs to come into the 21st centry. I think when this happens it will not only be good for the students but for all of us. This include addmission, career services, students services, the different programs and especially the instructors. Unfortunatelly this decision is not up to individual campuses but to the management.

I would like to see more concern regarding externship for our military students who have to move right before entering their externship program. I have personally called to try and help place them. They have mentioned to me that they will drop out because not enough is being done to help place them at these externship sites and they are expected to do all the leg work themselves.

Linh, You bring up an interesting concept. Much research has been done and it has been found that this generation of student prefers 24/7 access! It's important to try to meet students where they are. Great job!

Susie,

I find that creating active learning experiences can vary in difficulty by the type of class you're teaching. In chemistry it is easy to have students working on problems together or on the board. In Environmental Science I find it much more difficult.

It seems as if my students, a younger generation, like instant gratification, in regards to getting their test results and answering emails. I would like to have a system where students can text questions and have them answered pretty immediately....Someone would be in charge of texts like that and if there is not an immediate answer to their question, then get back to them. But there should be a certain time frame in which they can text, not in the middle of the night or on weekends!

Jason, Great! Thank you for sharing.
Dr. Jean Norris

Thank you, Dr. Norris. To answer your question, putting student's needs first and resolving to get them to their end goal. Compliance from all departments, remembering it is a school first and business second.

Jason, Interesting! What a concept, right? Polite manners, a simple hello. What else is included in old fashioned manners that would benefit your institution?
Dr. Jean Norris

I would like to see old fashioned manners and traditions come back in style. I think we as a whole have gravitated in a different direction and it would be nice to get back to basics. How would this help? You do this and I'll spread the word about the school. The pen is mightier than the sword but my voice can be heard.

Glenda, Family members that attend the school visit with the student are very important in the decision process, and deserve as much attention as the student. I commend you and your school for doing this! What specifically are some of the things that are done for the family?
Dr. Jean Norris

I totally agree with Rachel's statement. We have potential student that travel from out of state to visit our college. We must not only sale the programs to the potential students,,but to their family members. We talk to students about having Great support systems. Family members seem to love it.

Janice, That sounds like a great idea. Have you noticed scores on the tests rising?
Dr. Jean Norris

We have started a test taking tip of the week email to our students. It has been well received.
