1. Continue to set-up community events
2. Make sure positive reinforcement of the students career choice is happening in the classroom.
3. Connect with students and show my commitment daily.

My first step will be to share what that i have learned in this workshop abouth retention and explain that no matter what position we occupy everyone are a fundamental part of student retention.

Second: I will attend the next meeting of student representatives to listen there concerns and finallyI will discuss concerns and to find solutions to increase our student satisfaction.

Once a quarter supply a "Thank you" reward or treat to the students. Make sure that as a staff we know each individual students name and maybe something about them. Have each staff member actively participate in a portion of the students education.

Three steps I will take include:
Update course content to more engaging and relevant material.
Create an orientation catered to my course to remind the students about all of their resources, some of which are built into the course, some which is external.
For each homework assignment pose the question to the student as to why it is important to their future career.

1) Develop student activities to build an opportunity for appreciation & student involvement with the community.
2) Increase the student services department visibility to students on a regular basis.
3) Create attendance awards to be given out monthly for best attendance rates in each class.

The steps that i will take to increase retention in the next thirty day are 1. to increase the level of commitment in relation to the faculty through retention strategy training at regular intervals. 2. Increase the level of student services such as workshops and faculty help times available to the students. 3. implement a survey and comment process so we may measure the above efforts to see how we are really effecting the student experience.

I will definitely make sure that the students know that I have an open door policy and that they can come and talk to me every time.
Continue calling students when they are absent to make sure they know that we are concerned about them missing class.
Learn their names; students feel good when an instructor calls them by name.

Connect with students every day. When asking how they are-really show an interest.

Provide more mentoring/tutoring help to at risk students.

Set up student appreciation events.

Since starting this course I have begun to email student in their first block just to let them know I care and that I am here for them if they need me.

I am attempting to set up industry field trips with a couple of employers in the area.

I am attempting to set up a mentoring program with local employers to let students spend some time each week in an industry environment gaining skills and perspective.

I will encourage students to participate in school functions. We have regular school activities taht are designed to help students connect with the school's culture.

I will utilize more collaborative learning experiences.

I will address attendance issues early and counsel students to understand their reasons for missing class.

As a Clinical instructor I am not at the school but one day a week, but while there. I help within the labs to students with questions and essential skills they will need to be successful while in the practicum and career. Secondly, helping other departments with new announcements of jobs, leads to future endeavors be it jobs or obtaining new clinical sites for the future. Thirdly, just being a friendly face to the new enrolly, who may have a questio about the program and/ or school.

Collect information that is relevant to a students success such as 1) What motivates the student? What could be interfering with their success?(Family, Friends, Social Standards). 2)How many credit hours has the student attempted? How many has that student actually earned? 3)Are there any common characteristics that is noticed among students that withdraw? Should they be red-flagged and counseled early? 4)Are there any barriers at the college that is preventing the student from succeeding?

Engage students and build a level of trust. Expand tutoring options. Continue to promote our schools student resourse center which helps students with a variety of problems.

Engaging students, one on one talks, congratulate when necessary

Good answers. Although our school provides these resources to some extent , I need to be more proactive personally to provide more of these activities.

1 - After class once a week have an open forum for the students to express concerns on subject matter or personal issues.
2 - Structure teaching materials in multiple formats and outline day to day subjects to make reference easier for absent students.
3 - Communicate with Management more often concerning at risk students.

Offer tutor and lab skill sessions with low grade students.
Contact and meet with students to discuss challenges.
Have instructors accountable to assisting low grade students.
Have instructors call students that are tow plus days absent

Make sure to greet my students every morning and tell them I will see them tomorrow at the end of the day.
Have a student discussion at the beginning of every week to make sure we are all on the same channel.
Set aside time after class for any students who need additional help.

1. Making the students feel like they mater more than I am doing right now.
2. Bring a few new ideas that the course gave me to be discussed at the next staff meeting.
3. Also and the staff meeting, revisiting a few things that we have done in the past that we no longer do.

1. More training for faculty/staff
2. More student appreciation events
3. More attention to students (ex. saying hi and smiling to every student within 10 feet of me)
