Lately I have been having the students use an Ipad that I provide to video the lecture that I later add to the canvas shell for them to be able to review.

Individual educational plan through ADA

I just learned once students have either graduated from high school or turned 21 yrs old who have a "LEARNING" disability are now no longer entitled to the IEP (individual educational plan) which provided them with special accommodations through the federal law "individuals with disability act 2004".  I have worked at previous universities who apparently are not aware of this...very interesting.

I will use this information

To bring more technology learning into the classroom. It will definitely enhance my teaching skills and has given me many new ideas.

First Class

I am so glad I did this module.  My first class I was so nervous but I went in with confidence knowing that I can make a difference. It was truly a blessing and I felt so comfortable teaching.  I will used what I have learned thus far in future classes.

ED 111

Face your fears in changing your teaching methods. This course made me aware of some things that I have to change to be an effective promotor of knowledge and skills.

ED 105

I found this course trigger self-reflection on my own soft skills.  There were areas where I was made aware needed to improve; suggestions were offered on how to overcome the weakness.  I was thrilled to read the Pennsylvania survey which I can use to impact students who resist the need to build their soft skills.  I think this is truly a course all instructors could use.

important reminder

Very good reminder of the importance of active learning and student involvement.

Students Matter

Work to make students comfortable and confident in their educational endeavors.

Using what I've learned

This course is a great starting point for a new instructor like myself. It reminds me that I need to be just as prepared for class as my students. This entails having a strong foundational base on all materials that are being covered. Furthermore, my appearance is not only a reflection of myself, but it serves as a model for my students. Instructors should be fair when presenting materials, and making sure to always make student success a top priority. This course reminds us that even the most knowledgeable instructors need to have a foundational structure of the course they… >>>

Classroon lecture

An alternative to having lecture notes on 5 x 7 cards is to have the lecture note in a powerpoint format and project it on the board while lecturing.  This is beneficial for both instructor as well as the students.

Reflection

Get to know students and their reasong for taking the course. Be enthusiastic about teaching. Use different teaching tools. Creat assignments that allow students to use their newly acquired skills.

Learning styles

Understanding the learning styles of your students makes teaching time productive for both instructor as well as the students.  Presentation of material can be developed in the format that can be beneficial to the students.

Active Learning Activities as a Weekly Routine

I am absolutely ready to implement active learning strategies to the business office administration program. This accelerated program will improve 100% with hands on activities at the level of the active learning activities presented in this online class. Adults like feeling independent and seeing that the concepts they are learning are applicable on a daily basis.

With the team, we will find the best time of the week to include these activities and hopefully we can combine classes to increase the networking effect of the assignments.

Bringing Peripheral Learning to the Classroom

I knew about the importance of Peripheral Learning and yet didn't included in my classroom. After this online class, I realize it is time for me to include it in my current classroom and use it in the student benefit.

I will have a board with exchangable posters aligning with the lesson of the month. Once of the sections will be regarding the lesson of the day and another section will have my own mission for the day. I will also involve the students by asking them to submit or post on the board their learning of the week.

How to teach more effectively

I have been teaching for 20 years. Much that was in this training I have been exposed to. It was nice to see that I have used best practices in the past. I will be sure to "chunk" my teaching into no more than 15 minute segments. This will increase focus and retention and reduce fatigue and borebom.

A good resource for direction

It gave me insight on how to implement the information and guidelines as well as on how to combine experience and with both information and guidelines to create a more versatile approach.

Great course!

This course procided some interesting perspectives in the field of teaching a class and helping to be prepared as an instructor.

Reflection and Action Plan

I learned a lot from this course about different teaching styles and instructional development. I also got reassurance about my lecture times. I will implement new methods I learned in this course to enhance my instructional ability.

Effective Teaching Strategies

This lesson is very well presented the effective and has great information to utilize in classroom setting. I enjoyed watching the videos, found them very useful.

The Flipped Classroom

Definietly food for thought, plan to integrate some of what was learned into the traditional classroom setting.  I struggle at times with the amount of information required for the students to know in such a short period of time.  Technology on campus would be a challenge to flipping the classroom, however other components could be incorporated, perhaps sending out the PP prior to class, then spending time discussing the PP rather than just lecturing at them.
