How I manage stress and prevent burnout

I hike on weekends and workout at least 5 times a week. I also volunteer with a veterans nonprofit organization called Team Red, White & Blue, which wants to connect veterans to their community via social and physical activities.

I enjoyed going through the course ML135-Time management and learning the tools to use to better manage my time.

I will add helpful information that I learned through this course, I really like  the 4 step Stop, Breath, Reflect and Choose!

I already practice meditation, postivie affirmation, exercising and eating healthy.

Using technology to reduce stress

I use my fitbit watch during lunch time to practice breathing sessions. It helps me focus of just that and it also sets reminders to take breathing breaks.

This was a fascinating course.  I intend to look back over this topic next year.  The ideas presented about toxic stress can improve both work and life.   

Leading

I do plan on thinking more about my actions as a manager.  While I try to lead by example, I know I have opportunities to improve as an employee and as a manager through my personal actions.

Great information. Retrain is always a best practice to have to help you with your knowledge and skills. It also helps you to review and look at things different for a different stand point.

Looks like I need to work on my stress management skills! I scored an 81!! This was a great reminder about how important managing your stress level is to prevent burnout. There were a lot of helpful suggestions about positive ways to manage stress!

Stress in Workfield

Dealing with stress in our workfield is like eating breakfast. It is the most important course because it nourishes our body throughout the day. Although stress is inevitable, we have to solve it as early as possible in order for us to move forward with our life. We have to take it as a challenge rather than a burden. And we have to remember that sometimes stress is good because it keeps us focused on our goal. But then again, too much stress it bad because it is the source of concominant ailments.

Lead by example

Whether having a manager position or an employee of a manager, you must lead by example.

You cannot expect your employees to work their hardest, if you as their boss are not working your hardest.

You also can't expect them to really listen and do the things you ask if you are not following those guidlines yourself.

It's ultimately about leading by example, if you want great employees who love coming into work and giving 100% percent, them give them a reason to want that, and show that you feel the same way about your job. If you love your… >>>

Workplace Challenges

All individuals are different, the same as all employees are different. Each employee learns and grows differently, but positive reinforcement and costructive criticism are always positive ways of helping an employee grow in their job. 

Giving them training that you know is imperative to their position, and following up to see if training was learned and applied through them.
