creating an environment

I really appreciate all the knowledge I gain through maxknowledge. I have put into practice many of the strategies I've learned like: starting the first day of class with an intro of myself and I do everything I plan to do for the entire term in the first day. I welcome feedback. I go over the syllabus and class expectations. I put them into groups and I allow them to share. I have put inspiring quotes aroun the room. I have also put terms and concepts around the room that are related to class. I have them plenty of breaks. I provide opportunity for students to take a lead role in their learning by sharing their experiences in class discussions. I allow them opportunity to get up to the board, present, walk around, be creative and create. I've used minute papers at the end of the class to summarize learning. I make the class interactive by asking questions frequently. I use music, meditation, models, role playing skits and team building activities during my class. For my adult learners, I truly welcome and encourage them to share their life stories that apply to current issues in my lessons of women's health, pediatrics and nursing leadership. I use as much natural light as possible, I use up beat music when I want my student to become more energized and enjoy their learning process, I also use smooth jazz and classical music when I want them to relax or conceptrate on a task. I use aromatherapy during a big test. I give them time to verbalize their concerns, thoughts and feelings by doing a random "check in." I am always eager to learn more and try no things in my classroom that break away from the tradition way of learning. Most of my classes are held in a round table structure when I as the instructor am part of the round table. I look forward to learning new ideas and apply new effective strategies in the classroom to make learning fun and easy.
