I read from reading the messages in the class discussion how one instructor emails every student every class--I find that is a great way to get to know the students and find out whee the problems are and how to solve them. In the 21st century we should use the technology that is available to us and also to them.  One problem with that I see is---not all  of my students have computers and thus are not checking their emails as often as others are

Yes Lashawnda, you are probably right it will be very time consuming on my part.  I do teach several email lessons and I was kind of hoping to incorporate the emails into that keyboarding segment of my class. But you are right, I do not have to do it every class or every lesson--just certain ones. I am trying to find ways to make the students feel that someone is paying attention to what they do. I am sure you well know, students just need any positive reinforcement. And, not all the students get it at home

thanks for your feedback.

Emailing is a very quick and convenient way to communicat with your students; howver, I don't think I would do it everyday because it is their responsibility to prepare themselves. Emailing is okay for questions or concerns, but I don't know about using it as an everyday reminder; that could become very time-consuming.
