About me

I love adult education. I teach keboarding and so many of my students do not even have a computer at home. They do know have the skills to use in the 21st century. I guess that is why I love it so---because I am giving them a skil that they can use in so many ways

I am open to suggestions there

Activity

At my school we have set up a student mentoring program and has also been beneficial for all the students. the students that have been in the program help the newer students---with class material; but also with just going back to school in general. Often times the slower ones just need to feel that they belong

Yes Lashawnda, you are probably right it will be very time consuming on my part.  I do teach several email lessons and I was kind of hoping to incorporate the emails into that keyboarding segment of my class. But you are right, I do not have to do it every class or every lesson--just certain ones. I am trying to find ways to make the students feel that someone is paying attention to what they do. I am sure you well know, students just need any positive reinforcement. And, not all the students get it at home

thanks for your feedback.

I read from reading the messages in the class discussion how one instructor emails every student every class--I find that is a great way to get to know the students and find out whee the problems are and how to solve them. In the 21st century we should use the technology that is available to us and also to them.  One problem with that I see is---not all  of my students have computers and thus are not checking their emails as often as others are

I agree that  is why it is important to take courses like this isgain more knowledge all the time.  Education never ends

Yes John I enjoyed it too. I am a seasoned teacher and I have not thought about instructional methodsl in a long time.  It is nice to go back and review

I came into this course thinking that I did not have time for it, but I really enjoyed it. I thought about things that I have not thought about in a long time. As a seasoned teacher you sometimes get into a rut and do things the same way all the time.  I recently gave a speech to the local rotary about going back to school and always continuing your education---I had to learn to eat my own works. This course made me re evaluate my teachings

and I would love to learn more ways to put technology into the… >>>
