Video Submission Guidelines

Answer the question concisely and clearly

  • Share your insights and strategies
  • Provide practical tips and techniques
  • Speak casually and comfortably

Use any video recording device you prefer

  • Use your laptop, mobile phone*, camera, etc.
(*if you are using a mobile device, turn it sideways and record horizontally)
  • Do not exceed 2 minutes
  • Save your video in .mp4 format (Compression Guidelines)
  • Choose a quiet room. Turn off anything that may make background noise.
  • Make sure you have sufficient overhead lighting. If there is a window behind you, keep it shut during day time.
  • Make sure you don't have something behind you that may distract viewers.
  • Dress business casual from the waist up.
  • Sit at a distance from your camera so that your head and upper chest are clearly visible.
  • If you are improvising, look directly into your camera. Use a printed outline (if needed) and place the outline on your desk. While you talk, glance down as needed to get your next piece of information and look back up into your camera.
  • If you are reading from a prepared script, position your script at eye level to the side of your camera. Turn your body toward the script and imagine you are talking to a colleague who is sitting beside your device.
  • Keep your script within about 250 words on a single page.
  • Speak a little louder and slower than you would in a normal office setting.
  • Show expressiveness and enthusiasm in your voice and face. Avoid excess movement of your body as a whole.
