3 Ms are very good blue print to follow.

Effective teaching strategies

Ideal guide for new teachers on how to properly manage a classroom

1st day of class

I enjoy putting a rolling powerpoint up prior to the students coming to class on the first day.  They take an interest in whatever the topic is and I believe it is committed to memory when we get on a bigger level of the topic.

asking questions

Asking certain type questions can be helpfull to find out if a concepet is understood

The three Ms are so important..

An instructor following the three Ms of modeling, managing, and motivating are very important...

student centered learning

I am appreciating the importance  of student centered learning. How flipping the classroom will help those students who do not move at the same pace as the majority of the class do weel in class and how the instuctor will be better able to help those individual students.

Lecture modes

Before taking this course, I had not considered the impact of the different lecture modes and stategies for using them more effectively.  I also had been using a live 'interactive' lecture/demonstration and was able to see more clearly why this often does not work as intended.

Anyone that has taken Accelerated Learning Environment Question

I am curious to see what techniques you may be implementing or experimenting with in your classroom.  Also, I would love to hear some success stories as they are always motivating.  I am excited about sharing some of this information at a Faculty meeting in a few days!

asking a question to a student who is not engage in the lecture.

I used to ask questions to my students when they started engaging in activity that is not related to the lecture.

I got their attention but they felt uncomfortable for being placed under the spot light.

I felt justified for directing their attention to the lecture in this manner. But also with some students I got the sense of resentment and less cooperation to participate. But now after reading teaching insights I realize that this was not the best approach in addressing my dismay with their behavior. From now on I will adapt to a different approach to direct their focus back to the lecture. They will be asked the question but after I make an effort to get them back on track.

Also, addressing the bad behavior does not always work for a spoiled brat.

Active and Passive learning

I found this lesson very interested. I had to read thoroughly in order to make sense of active and passive learning. The first time I took the practice quiz I failed it. The second time around I passed with a 100 after carefully reviewing what I had missed the 1st time around.

Effective Teaching Strategies

I truly enjoyed this course.  I found it to be very interactive and it provided detailed examples in each modules.  I will take with me the knowledge of instructional components, the preparation of teaching, to do list, instruction & handout, overview requirements, goal setting and instructional objectives.  I now can take what I have learned and implement it into the classroom setting.
