Ask a question from your peers to help you in your professional work. Seek different points of view on a topic that interests you. Start a thought-provoking conversation about a hot, current topic. Encourage your peers to join you in the discussion, and feel free to facilitate the discussion. As a community of educators, all members of the Career Ed Lounge are empowered to act as a discussion facilitator to help us all learn from each other.
The main tip that I can give is to never forget who you are and how you woulld like to be treated. Treat a student with integrity and honesty and talk plainly while understanding that this is very hard for them You are getting private information from them and they are putting their trust in you to do the right thing. You have the ability to change a persons life and that is something you should never take with a grain of salt. It is a very big responsibility to care and make sure all of your ducks are in a row when completing paperwork on a student so they can be processed. Hold your head high if you believe in what you do and if you do not or just in it for the job you might want to look for another one. We need people who really care about what they do and know that they are making a difference.
