I taught high school for 6 years. I definitely experienced a learning curve teaching my first term with older adult learners. Their experiences are definitely an asset to the class in my experience. However both older adult learners and students fresh out of high school have made me realize how important my own experiences are in the classroom. It emphasizes the instructor's role as an authority figure.

I found this course informative from an administrative point of view.  I was a high school teacher before my new position and there are many differences between teaching and now working on the other side of education.  In my new roll I am involved with students through all aspects of their post-secondary education.  It is important for me to know the different disclosure items especially the "do's and don'ts". Also just the ins and outs of how federal regualtions affect how different departments have to do their jobs.

After reading the compensation section it leaves me a bit confused. Even though there are specific things listed that can not be compensated additionally for but then it says things like COLA and volumn driven arrangements not related to enrollment or financial aid can be. What else is there that can be volumn driven but not related to enrollment or financial aid?

I think it is great that schools offer this program and service to its student but I think even from my own experiences that students think if they go to school and pass then they are guaranteed employment. Also finding the employment is the job of those working in Career Services and the student takes no responsibility for his own future. More emphasis needs to be made that it is the student's responisibility and aid in giving assistance but not actually doing the legwork.

After reading this section, I'm left with the question does every school really comply with all state reguations when offering online classes to students in different states and even different countries? I would be inclined to believe that every state has many specifics and I'm sure some overlap but for those that don't making sure everything is in compliance is quite a daunting task.
