Tania, If you are an admissions representative and you are explaining to a student that you have financial aid, you should go no further than to say "At our college we offer a variety of federal funds to our students. Financial Aid is given to those who qualify and our Financial Aid Department would be happy to discuss the details with you". Some colleges allow you to mention that you have Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, VA Funding etc. but this can open the door to additional questions. Cindy Bryant

Treena, One way to avoid negative media attention is through communication. This is done by making sure compliance risk is understood throughout the college, strengthen the governance of compliance through self monitoring, strengthen accountability throughout the company and cultivating an ethical culture. Ultimately, every company depends heavily on its culture to protect against compliance breaches, and steps can be taken to build and foster stronger ethical cultures. Taken together, these four steps both limit the amount of compliance risk colleges will face and put them in better positions to avoid negative media attention. Cindy Bryant

Tonetia, Thank you for sharing how this course has helped you to better understand the importance of misrepresentation and compliance. Cindy Bryant

Janeen, Thank you for joining the forum. These are very admirable character traits. Cindy Bryant
James, Interesting viewpoint. There are some that would feel that faculty members should not enter the grades but that they should be entered by a registrar or Dean to avoid favoritism. This is another area where your integrity stands firm and you as a faculty member cannot be swayed to to "give" a grade that has not been earned. Cindy Bryant
Ervin, Very interesting situation to be in...A) not having an instructional manual and B) not knowing if students will have books at all. I would certainly speak to the Academic Dean before it's too late. :( Cindy Bryant
Kemberli, Employees are motivated by a variety of methods. Every individual is different with some being motivated in intrinsically and some extrinsically. The key to proper motivation is to understanding your employees. Cindy Bryant

Berna, It is quite common for students to seek additional guidance regarding their financial aid from their instructors. Some students are intimidated by the complexity of federal funding. FA is an area that is considered a specialty and takes a considerable amount of training to be able to field these questions. Cindy Bryant
Milton, Creating a team environment can be very motivating. If an entity feels that they are part of something greater than themselves they tend to work harder for the greater good. Cindy Bryant

Tammi, Misrepresentation is the action that seems to draw the most negative attention-the only way to diminish misrepresentation is with training [just as you said] but the key is "inspecting what you expect." Cindy Bryant
