I learned that no one evaluation/ assessment tool will allow you to close the loop in evaluating and revising your on-line course. It will take multiple tools from multiple stakeholders to provide feedback that you will need to make continuous changes that improve the course.

I learned that assessment both formative and summative is a vehicle to improve learning and teaching. Balancing both formative and summative assessment in your course provides your students and you with the information about the learning that is occuring.

I learned that a variety of web-based tools allows for synchronous and asynchronous interaction in the on-line learning community. I aslo discovered that good detailed instructions in the syllabus are the key to a good on-line communication.

I leaned that module consistency is important becuse it helps ensure that all the modules within a course have a similar layout as well as similar visual , instruction and assesment characteristics. Module consistency is important too because students rely on module layout consistency to create "non verbal cues regarding their expectations in completing the course.

I learned that the instructor needs to do all he or she can for the e-learners, to alleviate alienation, excessive workload, competition and technical issues. I aslo learn that there are different types of behaviors from e-learners just like face to face learners,  there are students who are noisy, quiet, disruptive, intimidators and procrastinators just as in the traditional classroom setting.

It is not  recommended to use synchronous discussions to instruct important course content or to get for student understanding of the concept.  Also feedback should be timely when it comes on to on-line delivery. It is also importnat that the feedback be worded in a way to encourage participation, confidence and motivation.  Feedback should also be constructive criticism.

I learned that you can showcase your expertise through distant learning by providing a brief biography of yourself. I also discovered that asking students to post a short biography of themselves is a good way of establishing relationship and that this should be one of the 1st assignment to be given to students to be completed by day one.

I agree with what this person is saying. There are many factors that can be an hindrance to effectively performing in the online forum. If you are not a tech savy person where you know how to make your on-line delivery fun and engaging then this can pose a problem and may lead to failure.
