The first impression is the most important. Remember the 3 M's: model, manage and motivate. in the classroom early to prepare, have your materials ready and be ready to greet the students as they walk into the classroom. Introduce yourself and share some of your background and experience. Introduce a fun activity where they can also introduce themselves and share something as well.
It is very important to always be prepared with the proper matierials, technology and even a checklist to go over before class, this sets a good president with you and the students.
As instructors we must lead by example, create and maintain a positive role and environment and apply the 5-C's:
Credible, Candid, Compassionate, Committed and Clear.
Critical thinking doesn't come easy to students and it is our job as instructors/educators to help them develop this skill for their future endeavors as many businesses are looking for "professionals who can think, reflect and solve pertinent problems in the workplace".
"The process ot learning should be seen as positive for both the instructor and the students, and should be vibrant and full of life...."
It is important for students to be involved and engaged in their learning and for the instructors to guide them so they can have a good experience and be successful in their courses/classes.
Always be open to new changes pertaining to education. Make sure your technology and materials are working properly, are up to date and always have a backup plan. It is frustrating for the students as well as the instructor when something goes wrong or is not working, it takes way from the learning experience.
I have never been one for the lecture mode of study as I have always found it to be boring and monotonous. I have leaned more towards the idea that active learning is the best way for students to learn as it "diversifies the learning environment for students and gives them an educational experience which many may have never had before". I think active learning helps the students be more proactive in their learning, helps them engage with one another, helps them have fun and enjoy their class/course more while learning and it "assists in understanding, retaining and applying course… >>>
In this module I have learned that the different assessments provided here (value-added, alternative, authentic and the rubric) are valueable sources to help the student succeed in their course work and also help the instructor with the feedback needed for course revision and grading criteria.
This module provided us with different types of assessments and how they should be used to ensure the best learning outcome for our students.
In this module we learned the difference between assesment and evaluation and how the two are crutial to the learning and teaching enviornment. Also learned about diagnostic assessment and how important it is to apply before a course to see what knowledge the student has about the course.

Performance Groups in the Lounge are integrated with related learning opportunities offered on these portals. With a few exceptions, Performance Groups are also publicly available to any member of the Lounge to maximize peer-to-peer learning and performance outcomes.
