Scott, Another well put post. Are all these in place at your campus? What would you improve? Add? Take away? Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Scott, Very well said. Thank you for this post. I agree wholeheartedly. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Scott, Time management and other skills that support learning can be addressed in the Admissions process. However, this is better served through orientation and integration throughout the curriculum. We are developing the whole person as well as teaching the technical skills required for hos or her chosen career. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
David, Yes, you are using several different delivery modes. Do you have the students long enough or often enough to see how each student best learns? Who learns better by listening (lecture)? Seeing (demos, videos)? Doing (hands on)? Or are you seeing how students mix these in his or her learning? Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
David, Sounds like a thorough process. Take the rebuild company to another level. Assign students as supervisors and other roles. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Albert, Yes it is. Assessing projects they work on is a very good assessment technique. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Maria, Have the students work in groups to develop their own review questions. You are already going in that direction. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Neil, The group setting and real world focus helps to address learning styles. Ed Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Diana, It has been a practice of mine lately to encouraging people to focus on achieving the student outcomes over covering the material. In this way we provide a more learner centered environment. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Kathy, Having followup activities during the first week or two of classes can help reinforce what is learned during the orientation event. Orientation is a process that takes time. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
